Orthokeratology (OrthoK) Contact Lenses

Have you ever wanted clear vision without wearing glasses, daytime contact lenses or undergoing surgery? Orthokeratology or OrthoK for short gently reshapes the cornea while you sleep so that glasses and contact lenses don’t need to be worn during the day. Patients wake up with clear vision and are able to participate in sports, go to class, or drive without the need for any additional eyewear. This also benefits individuals that have dry eyes and cannot tolerate wearing daytime contact lenses. With continuous overnight wear, OrthoK is a safe, non-surgical treatment that corrects and controls the progression of myopia for children and adults. A comprehensive eye examination and consultation must be conducted to determine if the patient is a good candidate. It is most successful for individuals with less than 5 diopters of myopia and less than 1.50 diopters of astigmatism, although patients with higher prescriptions can be fitted. We use a special topographer to map the cornea and screen for any corneal irregularities or diseases before designing the lenses. Speak with our optometrists to discover if you are a good candidate for OrthoK.
