Dr. Lisa Chow graduated from the University of Waterloo with a bachelor of Biomedical Science and Psychology. Following graduation, she attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and received her doctor of optometry degree with advanced training in Pediatrics.
Dr. Chow completed her external rotations at the Baltimore Veteran Affairs Hospital and attended lectures at the Wilmer Eye Institute at John Hopkins University.There she focused mainly on ocular diseases including glaucoma and macular degeneration. In addition, Dr. Chow traveled to Singapore for her clinical rotation and also participated and assisted in organizing a mission trip to Dangriga, Belize in 2009 as the executive member of the Student Optometric Service to Humanity.
During her last year of undergraduate studies, Dr. Chow worked at the UW contact lens research center where she published an article on “Lactoferrin Deposition on Silicone Hydrogel Contact Lenses” in 2009.
Dr. Chow has a special interest in vision and rehabilitation where she focuses on developmental optometry treating and providing vision therapy to both children and adults. She believes in providing quality eye exams in a timely efficient manner and is passionate about providing clear and comfortable vision to her patients.
Dr. Chow has completed the Canadian and American board certification (CACO and NBEO) and is an active member of Canadian Optometric Association (CAO), College of Optometrists of Ontario (COO) and the Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO). She is certified to provide therapeutic pharmaceutical agents for treatment of diagnostic eye diseases.
Prior to joining Chan Optometry, Dr. Chow and her sister; Dr. Mindy Chow worked together at the Markham and Scarborough Mall locations as Dr. Chow Vision Care treating the two communities there. After 8 years, she decided to expand the two offices and collaborate with Chan Optometry to provide a wider range of practice including vision therapy, orthokeratology, and further technological care in ocular disease including glaucoma and retinal disease with the advanced imaging technology available at the office.
Dr. Chow is fluent in both Cantonese and English and conversational Mandarin. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her son and husband, traveling and experiencing different cuisines. She also enjoys dancing and has practiced salsa and ballroom dancing.
